I used to work in both mixed media and digital art. But I have had to stop painting, due to serious allergies to certain chemicals in artists' paints, including gouache, which I loved to work with. I haven't given up pencils, although I haven't done any pencil work for a long while.
At least I could continue with my digital art to satisfy the creative urges.
Subject matter varies, depending on mood and whatever grabs my interest at the time. I use a lot of my own photography, although I am not a great photographer. I look for colour contrasts and texture in particular.
I live on the Isle of Thanet, just a few hundred metres from lovely beaches. Thanet has fanstastic coastal scenery and it's a designated area of scientific interest due to its bio-diversity, so there's plenty to excite the artist's eye. Plus we're not far from the pretty Kentish countryside.
The sea is in my blood, and I love boats. Oddly, industrial and mechanical textures also interest me.
