I studied art and design at St. Martin’s School from 1958-1961, I followed a career in the fashion industry, mainly wedding dresses and individual clothes. Having always hankered with the idea of going more towards artwork, I have always been drawn to bright colours and patterns. Hopefully this comes across in my work. My inspiration is in the wildlife country and fauna around, and especially the seascapes and skies that are here in Kent.
I also teach art, it gives me a lot of pleasure seeing my students having their own exhibitions and showing their own work. My classes evolve around the seasons, very often going out on field trips and working plain air whenever possible
In Whitstable where I live there is a thriving artistic community especially centred around the Horsebidge Arts and Community Centre. There are always different exhibitions going on, which change weekly or fortnightly as well as clubs, meetings and concerts.
Other galleries and art societies, which I belong to include
The Canterbury Society of Art (which I have been a member for many years) Whitstable Art Society and Made in Whitstable is a community of artist’s which cover all forms of artistic subjects.
